Manga Time Kirara and Comic Fuz have jointly announced that the series Laid-Back Camp and the manga mono will pause publication because of Afro’s deteriorating health. The publishers say the decline is linked to the pressure of handling several works at once. It remains unclear if the Laid-Back Camp side project, Room Camp, will also be put on hold.
Laid-Back Camp and mono – Detailed Information
Afro first launched the Laid-Back Camp (also known as Yuru Camp) series in 2015 via Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward. In 2019 the title moved to Comic Fuz. The series now comprises 18 volumes and is released in English by Yen Press. The series has become three TV anime seasons: Seasons one and two were produced by C‑Station, while season three is from Studio 8bit. FuRyu Pictures is set to premiere the fourth season next year, and Crunchyroll carries all seasons, including the Room Camp spin‑off.
In 2021 Gemdrops introduced a VR title named Laid-Back Camp: Virtual Camp. Additionally, a visual‑novel version titled Laid-Back Camp: Have a Nice Day! was produced by MAGES.
Afro’s mono, a four‑panel comic, first appeared as a single episode in May 2017 on Manga Time Kirara Miracle!. After drawing praise, Houbunsha started regular serialization in Manga Time Kirara Carat that same year. The work has been gathered into five collected volumes, and Yen Press releases it in English.
In 2025 Studio Soigne brought mono to the small screen. Crunchyroll carries the anime’s streaming rights.
The worlds of Yuru Camp and mono intersect, allowing occasional guest appearances by characters in each other’s stories. Yuru Camp is largely responsible for a surge in camping interest and increased tourism in Yamanashi Prefecture, the setting of the series. Its success has spawned a wide range of camping‑themed products and brand partnerships.
